The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's soccer team is set to begin its postseason in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) tournament by hosting Roosevelt University in the quarterfinals. The match will take place on Tuesday, November 11th, at 4:00 pm at the GVSU Soccer Field.
GVSU completed its regular season with a record of 16 wins and 2 losses, earning the GLIAC regular season championship with a conference record of 12-2. The Lakers enter the tournament on a seven-game winning streak, which includes four shutouts. Over the course of the regular season, they outscored opponents 44-9 and led the conference with ten shutouts.
In their final two games of the regular season, GVSU defeated Roosevelt 7-0 and Saginaw Valley State 2-1 at home. Kendall Aikens received recognition as GLIAC offensive player of the week after contributing two goals and two assists across those matches.
Seven players from GVSU have recorded double-digit points this season. Sarah Fromm leads with nine goals and four game-winning goals, including both scores in their recent win over Saginaw Valley State. Mackenzie Ford had a career-high performance against Roosevelt with two goals and two assists; she now has four goals and a team-leading seven assists for fifteen points this year. Kacy Lauer also reached personal bests with six goals and four assists for sixteen points, maintaining a five-game point streak after providing two assists against Roosevelt. Sonya Mehta contributed sixteen points from five goals and six assists, while Ivy Wilhelm added fifteen points on five goals—including three game-winners—and five assists. Alli French has fourteen points from five goals and four assists, while Aikens has ten points from four goals and two assists.
Roosevelt finished eighth in GLIAC standings with a conference record of 3-10-1 and an overall record of 5-11-1. GVSU holds an all-time record of 4-0 against Roosevelt this year alone sweeping them twice—winning both away (2-0) and home (7-0). This season, Roosevelt was outscored by opponents by sixteen goals but saw contributions from Carisma Rosales (six goals, four assists), Daisy Garcia (five goals, four assists), and Daisy Hernandez-Loya (five goals, three assists).
