The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) wrestling team, ranked 11th nationally, competed at the Greyhound Duals on Saturday, February 3rd. The Lakers secured a victory against Quincy with a score of 42-9 but faced defeats against two other teams. They lost to McKendree, ranked ninth, with a score of 34-12 and to Indianapolis, also ranked ninth, with a score of 29-6.

Chris Donathan from GVSU, who is ranked fourth in his category, maintained an unbeaten record for the season by winning all three matches he participated in during the event. The Lakers are now holding an overall record of 11 wins and six losses in their first varsity wrestling season after a hiatus of 32 years.

In the match against Quincy, GVSU's victories included tech falls by Chris Donathan and Trammel Robinson, as well as pins by Seth Konynenbelt and Wyatt Miller. However, they were unable to carry this momentum into their subsequent matches against McKendree and Indianapolis.

The Lakers will compete next on Thursday, February 8th, in their final home dual of the year against Findlay. This match will take place at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena starting at 7 p.m.
