Grand Valley State University has appointed Aulani Whisler as the new assistant coach for the women's soccer team. The announcement was made by head coach Katie Hultin, who expressed enthusiasm about Whisler joining the coaching staff for the 2024 season.

"We are excited to add Aulani to our staff and program," stated Hultin. "She brings a lot of experience and knowledge as well as great energy and passion for the game and the student-athletes."

Whisler's recent experience includes serving as an assistant coach at Illinois State. In 2022, she led Chicago State's women's soccer team to its most successful season in history after initially joining as an assistant coach and being promoted to interim head coach shortly thereafter.

Her previous coaching roles include volunteering at Valparaiso and working as an assistant coach at Stanislaus State and her alma mater, Cal State East Bay. As a player, Whisler had a notable career at Cal State East Bay with 69 match appearances, starting in 46 of them.

In recognition of her potential in coaching, Whisler was selected for the United Soccer Coaches' 30 Under Program in October 2021. This program offers education and mentorship opportunities to promising coaches under the age of 30.
