Grand Valley State University has announced the appointment of Kris Upshaw as the new assistant coach for its Swim and Dive team. The announcement was made by head coach Andy Boyce, who expressed his enthusiasm about Upshaw joining the coaching staff. "Super excited to have Coach Upshaw on the coaching staff. Her vast knowledge of swimming and the technique of strokes with her biomechanic background, I can't wait to see her on deck working with our swimmers," said Coach Boyce.

Upshaw brings a wealth of experience to GVSU, having built an extensive career in swimming coaching at both collegiate and high school levels. Her most recent role was as head coach at Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She also served as an assistant coach at the University of Kansas and Ball State University.

In addition to her previous roles, Upshaw has coached at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she contributed to developing elite athletes. Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Visual Communications and Fine Arts from the University of Indianapolis and a master's degree in Biomechanics from Ball State University.

"I've known Andy a long time, super great coach with a great program. I am really excited to be here and be a part of their success," stated Upshaw.

The Grand Valley State Swim and Dive team is coming off a successful season, having secured GLIAC Championship titles for both men's and women's teams. The university is looking forward to having Coach Upshaw contribute to future successes.
