The Grand Valley State women's tennis team faced a 5-2 defeat against Findlay on Saturday, February 10th. The match, held in Findlay, Ohio, resulted in the Lakers' season record dropping to 2-3.
In doubles play, Findlay secured the point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Taylor Barrett and Neus Ramos achieved a win for Grand Valley State with a score of 6-2 at the top doubles position. Vasileia Griva and Rachel Sam experienced a narrow loss with a score of 5-7 at No. 2 doubles, while Estefania Hernandez and Valentina Mozas were defeated 3-6 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles competition, Anna Soteras managed to secure a victory in three sets at No. 5 singles with scores of 4-6, 6-2, and 10-7. Estefania Hernandez also rallied for a win in three sets at No. 6 singles with scores of 1-6, 6-2, and 11-9. Neus Ramos lost her match in three sets with scores of 0-6, 6-4, and 1-6 at No. 4 singles. At the top singles position, Vasileia Griva was defeated with scores of 1-6 and 3-6. Taylor Barrett fell short with scores of 3-6 and 4-6 at No. 2 singles, while Rachel Sam lost her match in three sets with scores of 6-1, 2-6, and 4-6 at No. 3 singles.
The Lakers are set to return home for their first spring season home match next Friday on February 16th at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club starting at noon.
